JALAN KEE ANN SETS FOR MULTI-MILLION DEVELOPMENT

After 25 years of waiting ie after the Melaka iconic Central market was demolished in mid 1980s, finally Jalan Kee Ann has risen from her slumber. It started out in 2008 when the freehold land held by Sedap Food was offered for sale to interested parties.

Some smaller parcels of land were sold and four storeys shops were built. These shops have been completed and are now in business. However, Lot 427, Jalan Kee Ann, 75100 Melaka has an area of 93,000 sq.ft. It was rented out as an open carpark and some retail business until now.

Finally, an established property developer under the Hatten Group has decided to invest a multi-million project on the site. It will have 2 basement carparks and 5 storeys of freehold retail outlets. Slated to be completed by end 2016, the success of this project will influence the property prices around Jalan Kee Ann.

During the night, the area should see more economic activities. Now, it is rather quiet at night especially after the fire of Khelass supermarket. Luckily, a new hotel viz. Prima Hotel Melaka has opened last December and visitors are staying here. Probably, the former Lido cinema site will be redeveloped by 2016 as well. Then, Jalan Kee Ann can be revived to her glorious days.

REDEVELOPMENT OF FORMER LIDO CINEMA SITE

With the redevelopment of Lot 427, Jalan Kee Ann into a vibrant Vedro mall by 2016, all eyes are now at the former site of Lido cinema. Khelass supermarket was burnt down in an early morning fire last year. The site has been cleared of debris and enclosed up.

Rumours are circulating that a high rise hotel will be constructed. No firm confirmation from the owners of the land. Watch this space if we get some news on it.

MULTI-MILLION RINGGIT VEDRO MALL COMING UP AT END OF JALAN KEE ANN BY 2016

A new investment by the Hatten Group is going to be built at the end of Jalan Kee Ann. This 7 storey building with 2 basement car parks and 5 storeys of retail space will enhance the value of properties around Jalan Kee Ann.

This multi-million ringgit project is at Lot 427, Jalan Kee Ann,75100 Melaka. Completion of the project is expected to be done by 4th. Quarter of 2016.

With the over development of Bandar Hilir, finally, developers see the potential of Melaka New Chinatown especially beside the famous Melaka River.

In three years time ( by end 2016), the quiet area around the former Melaka Central Market will be transformed into a vibrant space. This area has been neglected since the Melaka Central Market was demolished in mid 1980s.

MELAKA CONSERVATION CENTRE AT BUNGA RAYA

A new Melaka Conservation Centre has been opened by the Melaka State government at No 45, Jalan Bunga Raya, 75000 Melaka. Hopefully, owners of heritage buildings who want to renovate their premises according to heritage standards can visit this centre for information.

MELAKA AQUARIUM TO BE OPENED AT THE SHORE

MELAKA will have a world class aquarium at the Shore located at Jalan Bunga Raya Pantai when completed.
